Toronto Reference Library lab tour + "Tips 'n Tricks"/Supplier Review - October 11th, 2016
Our first event of the Fall season will be a conservation lab tour of the Toronto Reference Library - care of Wendy McPhee - plus a review of our ongoing Supplier List. The Supplier list review prompted some excellent and lengthy 'tips 'n tricks' discussion, and many great ideas were brought to the table!

Pub Night - July 7, 2016

Event at the Japanese Paper Place - November 5, 2015
Wendy McPhee, conservator at the Toronto Reference Library and newly appointed co-cordinator of TACG, discussed highlights from the "Don't Rock the Cradle" symposium on books in exhibitions focusing on book cradles and book supports that was held at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington D.C. in earlier this year.
As well, Rod Stewart and Masumi Suzuki from Historic Plaster Conservation Services joined us to give an overview of the cleaning of a very large Art Deco gilded ceiling in a historic building in Ottawa. To complete the project within budget, they developed a new product – Tri-Funori – a 3 liter bag-in-box format of traditional funori which they administered in a poultice made of rolls of Japanese kozo. Subsequently, over the next few years they developed a freeze dried version of TRI-Funori that is crystal clear and has a long shelf life. It is intended for use in book and paper and museum objects conservation. We also received a demonstration of the product! You can visit their website for further information on their interesting new product: [https://tri-funori.com].
A big "thank you" to Nancy Jacobi and the Japanese Paper Place staff for their generosity, as well as presenters Wendy McPhee, Rod Stewart and Masumi Suzuki for making this evening possible.
